How Ozempic works in diabetes
Glucose-dependent insulin release. Ozempic stimulates insulin release when blood sugar is elevated, but not when normal. This is fundamentally safer than insulin or sulfonylureas — Ozempic does not cause hypoglycemia by itself.
Glucagon suppression. Reduces the liver's inappropriate glucose release that drives much of diabetic hyperglycemia.
Slowed gastric emptying. Flatter post-meal glucose spike, more efficient insulin response.
Appetite reduction. Significant weight loss in most diabetic members; weight loss itself improves insulin sensitivity.

How to use Ozempic
Ozempic comes as a multi-dose pre-filled pen. Once weekly, you twist to the prescribed dose, attach a new needle, inject into abdomen/thigh/upper arm, and dispose of the needle. The pen lasts about a month.
Standard titration: 0.25 mg weekly for 4 weeks (not therapeutic — for tolerance), then 0.5 mg. Your clinician adjusts to 1 mg or 2 mg based on glucose control and tolerance.
Refrigerate unused pens. Once in use, the pen can stay at room temperature for up to 8 weeks. HbA1c is rechecked at 3 months to assess response.
