Glutathione injections — the master antioxidant, delivered

Glutathione is the most abundant antioxidant in your cells and one of the only ones that can directly recycle other antioxidants like vitamin C and E. Levels fall with age, illness, and stress. Injectable glutathione supports systemic levels in ways oral supplements largely cannot.

— Overview

Why injectable glutathione

Oral glutathione is largely broken down in the gut. To raise systemic levels meaningfully, you need to bypass digestion.

Glutathione is a tripeptide — three amino acids (glutamate, cysteine, glycine) — present in essentially every cell in the body. It is the principal endogenous antioxidant, the master regulator of cellular redox balance, and a critical cofactor in phase II liver detoxification. Glutathione levels drop with age and are markedly low in chronic illness, oxidative stress, alcohol use, and exposure to environmental toxins.

The problem with oral glutathione is bioavailability: most of an oral dose is degraded by gut enzymes before absorption. Liposomal formulations help, but injectable glutathione delivers a dose-controlled amount directly into circulation, bypassing the gut entirely. Subcutaneous and intramuscular injections both work; IV is faster but for most members the difference is not worth the additional inconvenience.

HealifyNow's glutathione is pharmaceutical-grade and compounded by licensed U.S. pharmacies. Quality matters here — the same caution about heavy metal contamination in unregulated compounds applies to glutathione.

— Who it's for

Who glutathione injections fit

🛡️

High oxidative load

Heavy training, environmental exposures, chronic stress, long-distance travel.

🍷

Liver support interest

Members with elevated liver enzymes from alcohol, medication, or fatty liver often see normalization.

Skin and complexion

Members commonly report skin clarity and brightness improvements over 4-8 weeks.

🤧

Immune resilience

Glutathione supports normal immune cell function; low levels are associated with frequent infections.

— Process

How HealifyNow makes it simple

From your first message to your medication arriving at your door — clinician-guided, every step.

1

Schedule your free visit

A care team member meets with you to understand your goals, medical history, and treatment preferences. The first visit is no-cost and no-commitment — we want you to be confident before moving forward.

2

Meet your licensed clinician

Connect by secure video or phone with a U.S.-licensed physician or nurse practitioner who reviews your full picture — labs, prior treatments, current medications, and lifestyle — and decides what is clinically appropriate.

3

Receive your prescription if appropriate

If your clinician determines treatment is right for you, they issue a prescription that goes to a licensed U.S. pharmacy. We coordinate discreet shipping, or you can fill it locally. Follow-up visits are built in.

— Mechanism

What glutathione does

Direct antioxidant. Glutathione neutralizes reactive oxygen species directly. The "GSH/GSSG ratio" — reduced to oxidized glutathione — is a cellular health marker that responds to interventions.

Recycles other antioxidants. Glutathione regenerates oxidized vitamin C, vitamin E, and CoQ10 back to their active forms. Other antioxidants don't work well without it.

Liver detoxification (phase II). Glutathione conjugates with toxins, drugs, and metabolic waste in the liver, making them water-soluble for excretion. This is the body's primary route for processing acetaminophen, alcohol metabolites, environmental toxins, and many medications.

Immune cell function. Lymphocytes require high glutathione levels to proliferate and function normally. Glutathione-deficient lymphocytes are common in chronic infection and autoimmune conditions.

Mitochondrial protection. Glutathione protects mitochondrial DNA from oxidative damage — relevant in aging and chronic fatigue states.

Skin pigmentation. Glutathione inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme that produces melanin. This is the basis for its use as a skin-brightening intervention; cosmetic dermatologists in Asia have used IV glutathione for years.

— Safety

Safety information

Your clinician will review every relevant detail with you. Here are the most important points to know up front.

Very well-tolerated

Glutathione has an excellent safety profile; serious side effects are extremely rare.

Sulfur sensitivity

A small number of people are sensitive to sulfur compounds and may notice a temporary sulfur smell after injection. Resolves within hours.

No major drug interactions

Glutathione's mechanism doesn't significantly interfere with most prescription medications.

Active asthma caution

Inhaled glutathione has been associated with bronchospasm in asthmatics. Injectable is generally fine but tell your clinician about active asthma.

Important

All medications must be prescribed by a licensed provider based on medical necessity. Treatment is not suitable for everyone. Results may vary.

— Use

How glutathione is dosed

Typical doses range from 200 mg to 600 mg per injection, given 1-3 times per week. Subcutaneous and intramuscular injections both work; SC is more comfortable and easier for self-administration. Your clinician will personalize based on your goals.

For general antioxidant and longevity support, 200-400 mg twice weekly is common. For more aggressive support (post-illness, skin clarity, chronic oxidative stress), 400-600 mg three times weekly is reasonable for a defined period. Long-term high-dose use is unnecessary for most members.

Most members notice subjective effects within 2-4 weeks: clearer skin, better mental clarity, improved exercise recovery. Liver enzyme changes show up at the 6-12 week mark.

— FAQ

Frequently asked questions

HealifyNow makes it easy to move forward with confidence. Here are the answers to what people ask us most.

How does injectable glutathione compare to oral or liposomal?

+

Oral glutathione is mostly broken down in the gut before absorption. Liposomal formulations help but are limited in dose. Injectable glutathione bypasses the gut entirely and produces dose-controlled systemic levels. For meaningful clinical effect, injectable is generally the path.

Will glutathione lighten my skin?

+

Glutathione inhibits tyrosinase (the melanin-producing enzyme), so consistent use does produce a subtle skin-brightening effect over weeks to months. The effect is gradual and not equivalent to bleaching agents. For members specifically pursuing brightening, dosing tends to be higher.

Can I take it with NAD+, vitamin C, or other longevity protocols?

+

Yes. Glutathione, NAD+, and methylated B-vitamins are commonly combined in longevity protocols. Your clinician will sequence and time them appropriately.

Is there a risk of building tolerance?

+

No tolerance issue is recognized. Glutathione is a normal endogenous molecule; supplementation simply supplies what's already present at lower levels.

Can pregnant or breastfeeding women take glutathione?

+

Glutathione is naturally present at high levels during pregnancy, but the data on supplemental use during pregnancy is limited. We don't prescribe to pregnant or breastfeeding members without coordination with their OB.

How does this compare to glutathione IV drips?

+

The IV drip route delivers a higher single dose. For weekly maintenance, injection is more convenient and substantially less expensive. Some members alternate — injection for routine use, occasional IV for higher-dose use.

Will my liver enzymes really normalize?

+

If the elevation is driven by reversible oxidative or toxic stress (alcohol, medications, fatty liver), glutathione often supports normalization alongside lifestyle changes. Structural liver disease requires hepatology.

How long do members typically stay on it?

+

Many use it ongoing for general antioxidant support. Some run defined courses (12-16 weeks) and then take a break. Discontinuation is straightforward; levels gradually return to baseline.
