— The difference

Most fertility tests give you a number. Then what?

At-home sperm kits report a count and stop there. Fertility clinics can help, but first appointments can take weeks, and testing, bloodwork and treatment often mean three different providers. HealifyNow keeps the whole path in one place.

  1. Test

Lab-grade analysis of a sample you collect at home.

  2. Understand

A licensed provider explains your results in plain English.

  3. Treat

Medication, hormone care and lifestyle support on one platform.

— What we measure

What a complete male fertility test includes

Fertility is more than sperm count. Our panels pair WHO-standard semen parameters with the DNA and hormone markers many kits leave out.

Sperm count & concentration

How many sperm are in the sample in total and per milliliter, the starting point of every fertility evaluation.

WHO lower reference: 16 million/mL; 39 million total

Motility & forward progression

How many sperm are moving, and how many swim forward. Total motile sperm count is one of the most useful markers for natural conception.

WHO lower reference: 42% total, 30% progressive

Morphology

The share of sperm with a typical shape, which affects how well they can reach and fertilize an egg.

WHO lower reference: 4% typical forms

Sperm DNA fragmentation

How intact the genetic material inside sperm is. It isn't visible on a standard semen analysis and has been linked to longer time to conception.

Optional add-on test

Hormone panel

Testosterone, FSH, LH, estradiol and prolactin, the signals that control sperm production. When semen results are off, hormones often show why.

Included in Complete

Thyroid (TSH)

Thyroid function influences both testosterone and sperm production, so it's part of the complete picture.

Why test before something feels wrong

Average sperm concentration fell by about half between 1973 and 2018, according to a global analysis of 57,000+ men.

In about 35% of couples with infertility, both partners contribute, and in about 8% a male factor is the only cause, yet testing often starts with the female partner.

— If something's off

If your results need attention, you're already in the right place

Many abnormal results have an explanation, and many have a treatment. The provider who reviews your results can recommend next steps right away.

On TRT, or thinking about it? Test first.

Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production while you're on it. If children are in your plans, a baseline semen analysis before starting TRT, or a check while on it, is one of the most valuable tests you can take. Ask about fertility-preserving options like enclomiphene.

Male Fertility Test FAQs

The questions men ask most about testing, results and treatment.

Choose my test

What is a male fertility test?

+

A male fertility test usually combines a semen analysis, which measures sperm count, movement and shape, with optional sperm DNA fragmentation testing and a hormone panel. Together they show both sperm health and the hormones that control sperm production.

How accurate is an at-home male fertility test?

+

With HealifyNow, you collect your sample at home but it's analyzed in a laboratory against World Health Organization reference values, the same parameters a clinic uses. That's different from at-home devices that only estimate sperm count.

What does a semen analysis measure?

+

Semen volume, sperm concentration and total count, motility (how many sperm move and how many move forward) and morphology (sperm shape). Results are compared with WHO reference values.

What is sperm DNA fragmentation, and do I need it?

+

It measures damage to the genetic material inside sperm, which a standard semen analysis can't see. It's most useful if you've had abnormal results, unexplained difficulty conceiving, IVF or pregnancy loss.

Which hormones are tested?

+

The Complete panel includes total testosterone, FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).

How much does a male fertility test cost?

+

Semen Analysis is $299, Semen + DNA Fragmentation is $399 and the Complete panel is $499. A hormone panel on its own is $249, and Semen Analysis + Hormone Panel is $399. Every panel includes a consultation with a licensed provider to review your results.

How long do results take?

+

Your kit ships in discreet packaging and results are typically ready within a few days of the lab receiving your sample. Most men go from ordering to a provider review in about a week.

How should I prepare for a semen analysis?

+

Most labs ask for 2 to 5 days without ejaculation before collecting. Avoid alcohol, hot tubs and saunas in the days before, and follow your kit's instructions closely.

Is one test enough?

+

Often not. Sperm takes about two to three months to develop, and results vary from sample to sample, so clinicians commonly recommend two tests to confirm a baseline and a retest after any treatment or lifestyle change.

I'm on testosterone therapy. Should I test?

+

Yes. Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production, sometimes to very low levels. A test shows where you stand, and options such as enclomiphene can support testosterone while preserving fertility.

What happens if my results are abnormal?

+

A licensed provider explains what the results mean and what may be behind them, then recommends next steps: treatment such as enclomiphene, hormone or weight-loss care, repeat testing, or a referral to a urologist or fertility specialist.

How long is the provider consultation?

+

Your results review is a 5–10 minute phone or video call with a licensed provider, whichever you choose when you book.

Is my information private?

+

Yes. Samples are handled under clinical laboratory standards and your results are shared only with you and your provider through a HIPAA-compliant platform.
